The map covers the whole of Rotherham and parts of surrounding districts. It is designed to help you to find purpose made cycle routes such as the Trans–Pennine Trail or the Rotherham Canal Side Walk and Cycle Way. It also includes on road cycle lanes, cycle paths and many other things useful to cyclists.
Where there is no formal cycling route the map shows “safer” advisory cycling routes many of which were recommended by local cyclists. In choosing advisory cycling routes we have tried to avoid heavily trafficked arterial roads and junctions such as busy roundabouts. Of course, seasoned cyclists may be perfectly happy to mix with traffic on busy roads, but we have tried to recommend quieter routes wherever possible. Often the advisory routes will cross busier routes and where available, the safest crossing points are shown. These crossings often use pedestrian crossings, traffic lights and subways but please remember to respect pedestrian priority when using them.
The representation of a track or a path is no evidence of a public right of way. Users of all routes shown on this map do so entirely at their own risk. We cannot guarantee that all routes and bridleways will always be passable by bike particularly in wet weather.
